A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, or Material Science with 10+ years of related experience in the medical device industry is an asset.
A background in analytical techniques related to chemical interactions in assay systems is required. A working knowledge of surface science techniques will be considered advantageous.
Must be able to communicate detailed chemical characterization data to a diverse group of technical and non-technical associates involved in the product development and manufacturing processes.
Must be able to readily combine/stagger analytical methods and/or build new measurement devices to solve problems.
Must be proficient in data analysis.
Strong interpersonal skills are required.
Ability to multi-task & exercise independent judgment

Develop analytical strategies to understand the fundamentals of how the chemistry relates to product performance.
Develop appropriate raw material, sub system level and system tests to ensure finished product quality and identify problem causes expediently.
Evaluate processes and equipment for technology updates and serve as technical expert.
Work actively with Research, Engineers, Supervisors and Managers from all disciplines in resolving product quality issues, corrective actions and timely completion of these.
Develop a network with outside laboratories to increase the overall analytical capabilities of the company.
Conduct research on manufactured products to develop and improve products
