Modeler

Responsibilities


  • Working with senior personnel and scientific staff, develop, validate, and implement innovative, mathematical and/or statistically rigorous models of the clinically relevant diseases and the biomolecules derived there from.
  • As part of methodology development, test the robustness of candidate methodologies via simulation studies.
  • As part of methodology development, validate the models against clinical data both in real time and from data archives.
  • Working under the supervision of senior staff, liaise with Theranos software developers to implement models.
  • Develop and engage in research in modeling and statistics to improve the scientific integrity of the methodologies consistent with corporate priorities and timelines.
  • Maintain knowledge of literature in the areas of computational methods and technologies relevant to the Theranos technology suite.
  • Other responsibilities as they arise.

Requirements


  • Master's or Ph.D. in engineering, mathematics, statistics, biostatistics, or related field.
  • Modeling experience using standard mathematical modeling methodologies such as Ordinary Differential Equation simulation/solution systems.
  • Statistical skills should include familiarity with all forms of inferential statistics, statistical modeling (including Goodness-of-Fit statistics), and experiment design.
  • Familiarity with statistical/modeling programming packages such as Matlab, R, S+, SAS, and/or SPSS.
  • Experience with parameter estimation and optimization algorithms is preferred.
  • Experience modeling biological systems and pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics is desired.
  • Candidate must possess strong written and oral communication skills in order to convey complex analytical results to business sponsors of programs.
